People are starting to become all black-eyed and veiny
I went to a linked
article which Ausiello lauded as Joss Whedon speaking out on the news that the Kuzuis are planning to do another Buffy movie without him. Now considering the brevity of Joss' response, I can't hardly take it seriously that this is what Joss is truly thinking regarding this whole thing. So I'm going to chalk up Joss' response as him trying to give a response, any response, that would sound as diplomatic as possible without truly endorsing something that could desecrate his most beloved creation. Well desecrate it more than the first movie already did.
As predicted the fans had more to say about this than Joss did. Majority have said that they will boycott it. Some have threated to go all Dark Willow on their asses. One actually gave the business number of the Kuzuis. (Hmmmmm, I wonder if the international call rates will be low enough for me to harass them.) The whole situation is starting to look like Misery. But in reverse.
But the comments that really stuck with me are the two that made a reference to Anya's death. Yes, Joss is an Anya killer and I also have not yet fully forgiven him for it. Or for blinding one of Xander's eyes.
Anya-killing-and-Xander-blinding aside, I still think Joss is an awesome writer and his shows, no matter how really ridiculous in concept, have managed to become very solid story lines that had suprising depth. Because let's be honest, the idea of a high school cheerleader killing vampires while throwing witty quips is ridiculous. The same goes for cowboys in space. And yes, I was one of those people who refused to watch Firefly because of its ridiculous premise but was later on hooked. Dollhouse is actually the first show of Joss that didn't sound laughable on paper which makes it all the more sucky that it seems to be on life-support now that it has been relegated to the dreaded Friday Night schedule.
