Say It Ain't So
Joaquin PhoenixJust when I was hoping that Joaquin was being all witty by
pranking the masses on his so-called voyage to rap he has to go and do confirm that
it's true.
All hope is lost!
Tupac Shakur must be turning in his grave over this travesty against rap.
Christian Bale vs. Isaiah Washington
Christian Bale is certainly one of my favorite actors. His talent, though not yet recognized in the form of an Oscar win, is undeniable. So if he has an ego, well that is to be expected though I've never pegged him to be the egotistic type.
This rant of his that is supposedly caught on film is something I'm not going to hold against him because I don't really see this as being an ego trip. Reading the transcript, it was clear that his beef was the other guy's inability to be a professional. He never mentioned anything how he's better than the guy or that the guy should be somehow grateful to be working with him. No, the argument was all about work professionalism. This is something a regular person would do when a co-worker has distracted him one too many times. Work, no matter what it is you do, takes time and concentration. Having unneccessary distractions can get to you no matter how small, especially if the day has been long and hard. Dude, I've gone off on someone for being extra dense and I'm usually patient and helpful to newbies when teaching them the ropes. These things happen and unfortunately for Christian, his episode was caught on tape.
Since this is a topic of on-set blow ups, I am reminded of that thing over at Grey's Anatomy awhile back. Whereas I am forgiving with the Bale incident, I'm still ticked off with the Washington bruhaha.
The articles that reported the incidented were never really disputed by Isaiah except for the part where the f-word was directed at TR Knight. So going with that I have to believe that most of it was true.
The whole incident would be something I would side with Isaiah since he started off being mad at people for being late to shooting scenes. That is unprofessional and anybody would get ticked off on behaviour like that. But then he started ranting about how some of his co-stars had no talent and then choking one of them.
Going off on someone is one thing but choking someone is a whole other ballgame. And even if he says he didn't direct the f-word towards TR Knight, the fact remains that he used that word as description of something negative. The fag-hag in me can't forgive him.
The whole spiel about how some of his co-stars had no talent, I have to agree with though. I can't stand Ellen Pompeo.
Emma Watson
After reading this article I can say that I admire Emma Watson's drive to have higher education in her life. Not a lot of kids in the entertainment business think of stepping foot in school when there are still offers coming their way or even when there are no offers.
This is actually a good move on her part. Her grades certainly reflects that she does have a yen for scholarly pursuits. But that's not the only reason why I believe this. It's mostly because I really think she won't have longevity as an actress.
In the interview she says that being in school and having roommates will keep her grounded and make her a better actress. I agree on the grounded part but not on the acting part. I mean, if she hasn't improved her acting with all those Potter movies under her belt, I'm not sure if she really has it in her to be a good actress. She pointed out very good examples of women who have juggled acting with studies, such as Jodie Foster and Natalie Portman, but their level of talent is beyond Emma's. So they could disappear and go back to acting. Emma, in my opinion, may not have those opportunities even if she didn't go to school so she might as well go to school and have a solid back up plan. Having an Ivy League education has never been a bad thing.
But you never know, Josh Brolin has proven that even if you suck at acting for the better part of your career, it doesn't mean that you won't eventually improve and actually be nominated for an Oscar. So maybe she'll make it as an actress but having a back up plan never hurts.
